Last week during the May Fiestas in Coin, we held the 4th Andalusian Sketchbook Retreat with Julies Sajous at La Bonita. We had a ball! Both Julie and I enjoyed ourselves immensely, and seemingly so did our guests!
There were art sketchbook lessons in the morning with a recap in the afternoon for those who wanted a more personalized quiet moment with Julie.
As the retreats at the finca are for small groups only (there were five guests) the classes can be tailored to individual needs and guests are able to discuss and practice their sketching under Julie's watchful eye.
We also visited the village to enjoy tapas and the local festivities on the Day of the Virgin and additionally, the Day of the Cross.
Guests were able to not only see the wonderful celebrations and parades but were also shown around the back alleyways of the village to get an insider's view of Andalusian village life.
The weather was sublime which meant that we were able to relax by the pool and hold the yoga sessions under the palm trees. Susanne, our yoga teacher, visited three times during the retreat for those who wished to stretch and meditate.
One of the joys of doing art retreats at the farm is that people are inherently interested in what we do as a farming business. This means that I always offer a tour of the plantation for those who'd like to learn more about avocados and citrus fruits.
Julie will be back end August for another Sketchbook Retreat, 31st Aug-4th September 2019, so do get in touch if you'd like to join us over those days. Places are limited so early booking is advisable.
